Vehicle crashes into tree in Ira

IRA, VT — A Wells man was injured after his vehicle struck a tree on Route 133 on April 18, 2026.

Albert Burton, 78, of Wells, was traveling north on Route 133 at approximately 11 a.m. when he failed to maintain his lane of travel, according to Vermont State Police.

Burton’s 2018 GMC Sierra exited the roadway and collided with a tree.

Burton sustained minor injuries in the crash and was transported to Rutland Regional Medical Center.

A passenger in the vehicle, Janice Burton, 77, of Wells, was also involved in the crash.

Both occupants were wearing seat belts at the time of the collision.

The vehicle sustained significant damage.

Weather conditions were sunny with clear, dry roads at the time of the crash.

Vermont State Police from the Rutland Barracks investigated the incident with assistance from the Ira Fire Department and Rutland Regional Ambulance Service.

A Vermont Civil Violation Complaint is pending.
