BANGOR, NY — New York State Police responded to State Route 11 in the town of Bangor for a report of a fully engulfed structure fire on March 19, 2026, at approximately 12:03 a.m.
Upon arrival, troopers observed local fire departments actively working to extinguish the blaze.
After the fire was brought under control, State Fire Investigators responded to the scene.
Their investigation determined the fire to be suspicious in nature.
Further investigation revealed the fire was intentionally set by the owner of the building, Timothy J. Fleury, 42, of Constable.
During the course of the investigation, Fleury was also attempting to file an insurance claim in an effort to collect money for the damaged building.
Fleury was charged on April 8, 2026, with arson in the third degree, falsifying business records, insurance fraud in the second degree and grand larceny in the second degree.
He was processed at SP Malone and arraigned in the Town of Malone Court.
Fleury was remanded to the Franklin County Jail without bail due to having two prior felony convictions.
