FITCHBURG, MA — The Fitchburg Police Department and Massachusetts State Police Detectives assigned to the Worcester County District Attorney’s Office responded to a residence in Fitchburg Wednesday afternoon in connection with a reported shooting.
The victim was transported to a local hospital and is currently in critical condition.
The suspect fled the scene and has since been taken into custody.
There is no ongoing threat to the community.
Responding units included Fitchburg Police Department, Fitchburg K-9 Unit, the Fitchburg Detective and Patrol Units, the Fitchburg State University Police Department, Mass. State Police Detectives assigned to the Worcester County District Attorney’s Office, State Police Crime Scene Services, State Police Special Tactical Operations Team, State Police Crisis Negotiation Unit, State Police Firearms Identification Section, State Police K-9 Unit, and the State Police Field Services Team.
The incident remains in the early stages of investigation by the Fitchburg Police Department and Mass. State Police Detectives assigned to the Worcester County District Attorney’s Office.
