DELHI, NY — A Walton man was sentenced to four years in state prison after pleading guilty to a drug charge in Delaware County Court.

Joseph J. Hahn, 30, of Walton, pleaded guilty April 13 to criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree and was sentenced to four years in state prison to be followed by two years of post-release supervision.

Delaware County Sheriff Deputy Justin Mohr initiated a traffic stop Jan. 27 in the Village of Walton.

After stopping the vehicle, Deputy Mohr determined that the driver, Hahn, had a revoked license.

Deputy Mohr conducted a search of the vehicle and found multiple baggies containing methamphetamine.

The search also revealed scales, funnels, plastic packaging material and other paraphernalia commonly associated with the sale of illegal narcotics.

The case was presented to a grand jury Feb. 5, and Hahn was indicted for criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree, a class B felony.

After initially pleading not guilty, Hahn appeared in Delaware County Court April 13 and pleaded guilty.

Hahn admitted that he was in possession of over 1/8 ounce of methamphetamine while in the Village of Walton on Jan. 27.

He further admitted that he intended to sell a portion of that methamphetamine.

Judge John L. Hubbard sentenced Hahn to four years in state prison to be followed by two years of post-release supervision.

Hahn was remanded to the custody of the Delaware County Sheriff to begin serving his sentence.
