PLYMOUTH, CT — A 79-year-old man has been charged with criminal possession of a firearm, police said.

Paul R. Yarema, of Terryville, was charged April 14 with criminal possession of a firearm in violation of Connecticut General Statutes 53a-217c, according to the Plymouth Police Department.

In February, the police department received credible information indicating that Yarema, a convicted felon prohibited from possessing firearms, was in possession of a firearm.

A Superior Court judge authorized a search warrant for Yarema’s residence.

During the execution of the warrant April 3, a loaded Ruger .22-caliber revolver was located inside the home.

Yarema was processed and released after posting bond.

He is scheduled to appear in New Britain Superior Court April 28.
