Man charged with endangering welfare of child in Rome

ROME, NY — A 19-year-old man was arrested after a dispute involving approximately eight people at a Stewart’s Shops on Tuesday morning.

The Rome Police Department Patrol Division responded to 506 Erie Boulevard West at approximately 7:42 a.m. for a report of people fighting.

Upon arrival, officers determined the incident to be domestic in nature.

Police discovered that a 19-year-old male on scene struck a 16-year-old female.

The male was identified as Anthony J. Potter of Rome.

Potter was charged with one count of endangering the welfare of a child and one count of obstructing governmental administration in the second degree.

Potter was arraigned in Rome City Court and was remanded to Oneida County Jail.
