SOUTHPORT, NY — A traffic stop led to the arrest of a Pennsylvania man wanted on a warrant, authorities said.
Joel D. Uhler, 58, of Millerton, Pennsylvania, was arrested as a fugitive from justice out of Potter County, Pennsylvania, on April 11, 2026, according to the Chemung County Sheriff’s Office.
Uhler was charged with failure to appear on an original charge of bad checks, in violation of Pennsylvania law.
Members of the Road Patrol Division conducted a traffic stop on Clemans Center in the town of Southport on a vehicle operated by Uhler.
During the traffic stop, it was determined that Uhler was wanted as a fugitive from justice from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
The Criminal Investigations Division received the warrant from Potter County, requesting that Uhler be held on the warrant.
Uhler was subsequently arrested and processed as a fugitive from justice.
Uhler was arraigned by the Town of Southport Court and remanded to the Chemung County Jail, awaiting extradition to Pennsylvania.
