WALTHAM, MA — Police discovered approximately eight kilograms of cocaine at an apartment complex after responding to a report of a suspicious package.
Officers were called to the Ridge Apartments on Ridge Lane at 4 p.m. on April 9, according to a press release issued by the Waltham Police Department.
Members of the Waltham Fire Department assisted officers at the scene.
An investigation into the abandoned package revealed what appeared to be illegal narcotics packaged in a manner consistent with distribution, police said.
The package was transported to the police station where officers and detectives found eight brick-like packages of narcotics.
Each package weighed approximately one kilogram and tested positive for cocaine.
The matter is under investigation by detectives assigned to the Suburban Middlesex County Drug Task Force.
