Two arrested on drug trafficking charges in Waltham

WALTHAM, MA — Detectives assigned to the Southern Middlesex County Drug Task Force arrested two men following a narcotics investigation that led to the seizure of more than 2 kilograms of suspected cocaine.

The investigation focused on narcotics distribution in Waltham and resulted in search warrants being issued for a person, vehicle and an address at 7 Exchange Court, Apartment 2.

On April 9, 2026, detectives located suspect Tyrone Martinez and observed him leaving the residence and driving to the Waltham Public Library parking lot.

Martinez was stopped by detectives who immediately located three bags of white powdery substance in the center console tray, in plain view from outside the vehicle.

The bags weighed approximately 5.3 grams and were believed to be cocaine packaged for sale.

Martinez was placed under arrest at the scene.

Detectives then executed the search warrant at 7 Exchange Court, Apartment 2.

The search led to the discovery of a large amount of suspected cocaine and numerous items related to the sale and distribution of narcotics.

Items seized included several packages of cocaine weighing over 2 kilograms in total, nearly $12,000 in cash, a police scanner tuned to the Waltham Police Department frequency, digital scales, narcotics packaging materials and a digital money counter.

Tyrone Martinez, 33, of Waltham and Dedham, was charged with trafficking in cocaine over 200 grams, possession with intent to distribute Class B drugs and conspiracy to violate drug law.

An arrest warrant was also issued for a co-conspirator.

Michael Owes, 34, of Waltham, is being charged with trafficking in cocaine over 200 grams and conspiracy to violate drug law.
