NEW YORK, NY — A New York State Police trooper was injured after a Jeep struck a marked patrol car on the Southern State Parkway on April 12, 2026.
State Police responded to the eastbound Southern State Parkway just west of exit 14 for a motor vehicle collision at approximately 5:43 a.m.
Troopers positioned their marked vehicles to assist with traffic control due to the hazardous location.
At approximately 5:47 a.m., a gray Jeep Wrangler struck the rear of the marked State Police vehicle.
The impact pushed the patrol car a significant distance from the right lane to the center and left lanes.
The Jeep left the roadway and came to rest on the right shoulder.
The trooper and the operator of the Jeep were transported to local hospitals and treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
