LEICESTER, MA — A pickup truck reported stolen more than four decades ago was pulled from Rochdale Pond on Tuesday.
A fisherman spotted what appeared to be a submerged vehicle on his fish finder on Monday and reported it to Leicester Police.
The Leicester Fire Department and the District Seven Dive Team confirmed the presence of the vehicle.
Information gathered from inside the vehicle allowed police to identify it as a 1982 Volkswagen Rabbit truck.
Detectives determined the truck had been reported stolen in 1982.
The vehicle was removed from the pond on Tuesday with assistance from the Massachusetts State Police Dive Team, the Leicester Highway Department and the Leicester Fire Department.
Police confirmed nothing of interest was found inside the vehicle after it was recovered.
