Four injured in three-car crash in Verona

VERONA, NY — Four people were injured in a three-car crash on Rome New London Road early Thursday morning.

Road Patrol Deputies were dispatched to the scene at approximately 4:30 a.m. on April 15, according to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol.

Deputies determined that a 2015 Nissan Rogue operated by Gary Wilson, 49, of Oneida, was traveling southbound before colliding head-on with a 2025 Toyota Tacoma operated northbound by Ben Irwin, 27, of Cicero.

A third vehicle, a 2022 Nissan Frontier operated northbound by Bryant Brownell, 36, of East Syracuse, also collided with one of the vehicles during the crash.

The Nissan Rogue caught fire as a result of the collision.

Wilson and his 17-year-old passenger were assisted out of the vehicle by bystanders before it became fully engulfed.

Three of the parties were transported by AMCARE Ambulance to WYNN Hospital and one party was taken to Rome Health to be treated for injuries sustained during the collision.

The injuries do not appear life-threatening at this time, and the accident remains under investigation.

The roadway was reopened as of 6:17 a.m.

The Sheriff’s Office was assisted on scene by AMCARE Ambulance, the New London Fire Department, the Verona Fire Department, the New York State Police and bystanders.
