Woman arrested on drug charge in Bath

BATH, NY — A traffic stop early Wednesday morning led to drug charges against a village woman.

An officer with the Village of Bath Police Department was on patrol in the area of West Morris Street at approximately 1:15 a.m. on April 9, 2026, when he observed a vehicle commit multiple violations of the NYS Vehicle and Traffic Law.

A traffic stop was conducted and upon making contact with the occupants, drug paraphernalia was observed within the vehicle.

An investigation ensued, and a passenger in the vehicle was found to be in possession of controlled substances Buprenorphine Hydrochloride and Buprenorphine Naloxone.

The passenger, Deanna M. Lewis, 43, of Bath, was arrested and charged with one count of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree, a Class A misdemeanor.

Lewis was processed and released on an appearance ticket.

The operator, Leonard E. Storms, 57, of Bath, was issued two uniform traffic tickets for aggravated unlicensed operation in the third degree, a misdemeanor, and failure to stop before entering a public roadway, a violation.

Both are due in Bath Village Court at a later date.
