Teen crashes after falling asleep at wheel in Pittsfield

PITTSFIELD, VT — A Braintree teen crashed into a telephone pole after falling asleep while driving Friday evening.

Alexander Delarosa, 18, was driving a 2014 Ford Edge northbound on Vermont Route 100 near Townsend Brook Road when he fell asleep at the wheel at approximately 6:11 p.m.

The vehicle collided with a telephone pole at 2715 VT Route 100.

The Ford sustained severe front-end damage.

Delarosa was wearing a seat belt and was not injured.

Troopers from the Vermont State Police Rutland Barracks responded to the single-vehicle crash.

The Pittsfield Fire Department assisted at the scene.

Weather was clear and road conditions were dry at the time of the crash.
