Police cruiser collision under investigation in Windham

WINDHAM, ME — A traffic collision involving a Windham police cruiser is under investigation.

The crash occurred at approximately 6:13 p.m. on April 11, 2026, and involved a red 2016 Nissan Pathfinder operated by Juan Yupangui, 45, of Auburn, and a black 2023 Ford Interceptor Utility patrol vehicle driven by Windham Police Officer Samuel Pattee.

Officer Pattee was on duty and responding to another call at the time of the collision.

Both drivers sustained non-life threatening injuries and were transported to a local hospital for evaluation and treatment.

Both vehicles sustained damage and were towed from the scene for further investigation.

Two unidentified passengers fled on foot for an unknown reason, but they are not believed to have been involved and are not considered a threat to the community.

Officer Pattee and K9 Zeus have been released from the hospital and are home resting comfortably.

The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office is assisting the Windham Police Department with the collision investigation.
