EMSWORTH, PA — Emergency crews rescued an elderly fisherman trapped on a riverbank near the Emsworth Lock and Dam on Jan. 14.
Station 148, along with stations 103 and 108, were dispatched at approximately 9:45 p.m. for reports of an injured fisherman.
Upon arrival, crews from Station 148 found an elderly man approximately 20 feet down a hillside on rocky terrain.
Command requested Station 258 for additional manpower.
Rescue crews set up a rope system with a 3:1 mechanical advantage to haul the man up the hillside.
The rescue companies brought the man to level ground 25 minutes after the initial dispatch.
The patient was transferred to Northwest EMS.
