Driver cited after crash in Penn Yan

PENN YAN, NY — A Penn Yan woman was cited after a single-vehicle crash that sent three people to area hospitals early Saturday morning.

Brenda M. Hodge, 65, of Penn Yan, was driving on Havens Corners Road when she failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection with Thistle Street around 12:22 a.m., according to the Yates County Sheriff’s Office.

The vehicle struck an earth embankment following the stop sign violation.

Hodge and her passenger, Sandra J. Shriver, 58, of Penn Yan, were transported to Soldiers and Sailors Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Another passenger, Steven W. Hicks, 63, of Penn Yan, was transported to Geneva General Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Hodge was issued a citation for failure to stop at a stop sign.

Deputies Newell, Fultz and Presher and Sgt. Garren responded to the scene.

Benton Fire, Penn Yan Ambulance and Yates County Ambulance also responded.
