BLAIRSVILLE, PA — Blairsville Borough Police responded to a vehicle versus motorcycle accident on Route 217 North in the area of Walnut Hill on Saturday at about 5:01 p.m.
Michael Lyon Jr., 31, of Blairsville, was driving his motorcycle north on Route 217 at a high rate of speed and crossed over the double yellow line while making a turn and hit an SUV head-on, according to police.
The SUV was operated by Nancy Gould, 73, of Blairsville.
Lyon was transported by ambulance to a landing zone and then transported via LifeFlight to Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center.
Gould was transported by ambulance to Latrobe Hospital for minor injuries.
Blairsville Volunteer Fire Department, Citizens Ambulance Service and Mutual Aid Ambulance Service assisted at the scene.
Lyon was charged with reckless driving, driving at safe speed and multiple other summary traffic violations.
