HORNELLSVILLE, NY — New York State Police arrested a woman accused of stealing more than $46,000 from residents at a senior living facility.
Brenda L. Buck, 59, of Allegany, was charged with grand larceny in the third degree and falsifying business records in the first degree.
State Police received a report March 26 of suspected fraud and larceny at a senior living facility in the town of Hornellsville.
The complaint stemmed from a corporate audit that revealed irregularities involving a facility’s cash account used for resident transactions.
An investigation determined that between March 2025 and March 2026, Buck allegedly misappropriated approximately $46,020 in U.S. currency.
Buck was employed at the facility and responsible for managing resident financial accounts, according to police.
Police said Buck allegedly falsified business records and forged the signatures of residents to conceal the thefts.
Approximately 30 residents were identified as being affected by the fraudulent activity.
Members of the State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation located Buck March 31 and transported her to State Police barracks in Hornell for processing.
Buck was transported to the Steuben County Jail for centralized arraignment.
