HEMPSTEAD, NY — Two men were arrested after a pursuit involving a stolen vehicle on the Southern State Parkway on April 7.
New York State Police observed a stolen vehicle traveling eastbound on the Southern State Parkway in the area of exit 22 at approximately 7:36 p.m.
Troopers attempted to initiate a traffic stop and the operator, later identified as Joshua Rosario-Rivera, 38, and his passenger Boubacar Diallo, 39, failed to comply.
Rosario-Rivera fled at a high rate of speed and a pursuit was initiated.
During the pursuit, Rosario-Rivera struck multiple marked New York State Police vehicles and recklessly drove at a high rate of speed to avoid apprehension.
The pursuit continued northbound onto the Sagtikos Parkway before coming to an end near the SM5W exit in the town of Smithtown, Suffolk County.
Rosario-Rivera and Diallo were taken into custody without further incident.
Two troopers were injured during the pursuit with minor, non-life-threatening injuries.
Pending charges include assault on a police officer, criminal possession of stolen property 3rd, grand larceny 3rd, reckless endangerment 2nd, obstructing governmental administration 2nd, unlawful fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle 3rd, resisting arrest, driving while ability impaired by drugs and multiple vehicle and traffic infractions.
