SCHODACK, NY — State Police arrested a Schenectady man on April 7, 2026, on charges of grand larceny and scheme to defraud.

Christopher P. Quinn, 48, of Schenectady, was taken into custody on a warrant with assistance from the Rensselaer County Sheriff’s Office.

Quinn faces charges of grand larceny in the third degree, a class D felony, and scheme to defraud in the second degree, a class A misdemeanor.

Troopers began working with the Rensselaer County Sheriff’s Office on Sept. 17, 2025, regarding an ongoing fraud investigation.

The investigation determined that in February 2024, Quinn was hired as a subcontractor by a Rensselaer resident to complete fence work and was paid more than $11,000 as agreed by both parties.

Quinn allegedly never installed the fence as agreed upon.

During the incident, Quinn reportedly used the false name Christopher Johnson.

The Rensselaer County Sheriff’s Office is investigating similar incidents involving Quinn, indicating a systemic, ongoing course of conduct.

A warrant for Quinn’s arrest was issued on April 4, 2026.

Quinn was located during a traffic stop in Colonie, where he was arrested and transported to State Police Schodack for processing.

He was arraigned at Schodack Town Court and released under the supervision of the Rensselaer County Probation Department.

Quinn was then turned over to the Rensselaer County Sheriff’s Office due to another outstanding arrest warrant.
