Man arrested on fraud charges in Leicester

LEICESTER, MA — A man was arrested on outstanding warrants following a months-long investigation into a ticket fraud scheme.

Robert Cheevers, 57, of East Boston, was arrested at his apartment on April 4, 2026, by officers assigned to the Western Worcester County Major Crimes & Narcotics Task Force.

Leicester Police Department detectives investigated complaints that Cheevers had stolen money from multiple victims by fraudulently offering professional sporting event tickets at reduced prices and never providing the tickets.

Cheevers was arrested on a warrant obtained by the Leicester Police Department for larceny over $1,200 by single scheme.

He was also arrested on an outstanding warrant from Newburyport District for the same offense.

A warrant issued out of Clark County, Nevada, for burglary, felony theft and insufficient funds was also served.

Cheevers was arraigned in East Brookfield District Court.

He is currently being held at the Worcester County Sheriff’s Office on cash bail.

The Leicester Police Department was assisted in the investigation by the Newburyport Police Department, North Andover Police Department, Boston Police Department and the Clark County Nevada District Attorney’s Office.
