JOHNSTON, RI — A North Smithfield man was arrested on drunken driving charges following a motor vehicle accident on Route 295.
Nicholas McCarthy, 41, of North Smithfield, was taken into custody at 6:51 p.m.
He was charged with driving under the influence of intoxicating liquor, first offense, BAC unknown, and refusal to submit to a chemical breath test, first offense.
State Police troopers investigated the accident on Route 295.
McCarthy was transported to State Police headquarters where he was processed and held overnight.
He was scheduled for arraignment at Third District Court.
