Cyclist critically injured in crash on Route 151 in Falmouth

FALMOUTH, MA — A bicyclist was critically injured after being struck by a box truck on Route 151 on April 9, 2026.

The Falmouth Police Department and Falmouth Fire Rescue Department responded to the crash just east of the intersection with Sandwich Road at approximately 3:50 p.m.

The cyclist, an 86-year-old man from North Falmouth, was transported by Falmouth Fire Rescue to Falmouth Hospital and subsequently airlifted to an off-Cape trauma center for further treatment.

A preliminary investigation indicates that a box truck and the cyclist were both traveling eastbound on Route 151 when the collision occurred.

The operator of the box truck remained on scene and cooperated with the investigation.

Officers interviewed multiple witnesses who saw the collision.

The Cape Cod Regional Law Enforcement Council’s Accident Reconstruction Team responded and is assisting with the investigation.

The Barnstable County Sheriff’s Office Bureau of Criminal Investigations and the Mashpee Police Department also responded to assist.

The incident remains under active investigation, and fault has not yet been determined.
