Man arrested on stalking charges in Rutland County

RUTLAND COUNTY, VT — Vermont State Police arrested a North Clarendon man on charges of aggravated stalking and violation of an abuse prevention order.

Harry S. Withington Jr., 53, of North Clarendon, was taken into custody at approximately 1:18 a.m. Tuesday.

The investigation began Friday, March 6, at approximately 8:30 a.m., when troopers from the Rutland Barracks responded to a report of a suspicious incident.

Troopers learned that a person believed Withington had placed a tracking device on their vehicle without their consent.

The investigation revealed that Withington had placed a tracking device on another person’s vehicle without their consent.

The investigation further revealed a pattern of stalking and a violation of an abuse prevention order.

Withington was processed at the Vermont State Police Rutland Barracks.

He was ordered held without bail and lodged at Marble Valley Regional Correctional Facility.

Withington was scheduled to appear in Vermont Superior Court – Rutland Criminal Division on Tuesday.
