MARCY, NY — State Police arrested a man for endangering the welfare of a child on April 9, 2026.

Abdiwahab A. Mohamed, 45, of Utica, was charged with endangering the welfare of a child, a Class A misdemeanor.

The investigation began in January when State Police received a report from the Oneida County Child Advocacy Center involving a juvenile.

Members of the Marcy Bureau of Criminal Investigation initiated an investigation in coordination with the Oneida County Child Advocacy Center and the Oneida County District Attorney’s Office.

The investigation determined that Mohamed, who was employed as a custodian at John F. Kennedy Middle School, allegedly made inappropriate and unlawful sexual advances toward a 13-year-old female while on school grounds.

Mohamed was transported to Oneida County Jail awaiting arraignment.
