Two injured in head-on crash in Monkton

MONKTON, VT — Two people were hospitalized following a head-on collision on Bristol Road on April 6, 2026.

Troopers responded to the crash near the intersection with E. View Road at approximately 7:42 a.m.

Investigation revealed a 2016 Chevrolet Equinox operated by Adam P. Premo, 34, of Bristol, was traveling south on Bristol Road when it entered the northbound lane of travel.

The Equinox collided with a northbound 2015 Toyota Rav4 operated by Abagail L. Nicholson-Wemette, 22, of Middlebury.

The Equinox came to rest facing east in the northbound lane of travel.

The Rav4 came to rest facing south on the northbound shoulder of Monkton Road.

Both operators were wearing seat belts.

Premo sustained suspected moderate injuries and was transported to University of Vermont Medical Center.

Nicholson-Wemette sustained suspected serious injuries and was transported to University of Vermont Medical Center.

Road conditions were dry and weather was cloudy at the time of the crash.

Troopers were assisted on scene by the Middlebury Police Department, Monkton Fire, Bristol Rescue Squad and Midstate Towing.
