Two arrested on weapons charges in Waterbury

WATERBURY, CT — Two city residents were arrested on weapons charges following a traffic stop on East Main Street on April 2, 2026.

Officers from the Waterbury Police Department’s Traffic Services Unit were conducting proactive patrols in the area of East Main Street and Wall Street when they stopped a 2025 Nissan for a traffic violation.

During the investigation, officers seized a Taurus PT111 G2 handgun.

The driver, Jeremiah Montes, 22, of Waterbury, and passenger Christian Soriano, 19, of Waterbury, were arrested without incident.

Both men were charged with weapons in a motor vehicle, illegal sale or transfer of a firearm and carrying a firearm without a permit.

Montes was also charged with failure to wear a seatbelt.
