Man arrested on child endangerment charges in Harford

HARFORD, NY — A 42-year-old man faces multiple charges after allegedly violating an order of protection involving a minor in two separate jurisdictions.

David K. Wacht, of Harford, was arrested at 6:30 p.m. April 1 by the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office.

Wacht is charged with two counts of endangering the welfare of a child and two counts of second-degree criminal contempt, all misdemeanors.

Investigators determined Wacht violated a full stay-away order of protection on more than one occasion in both the City of Cortland and the Town of Harford, according to the sheriff’s office.

The protected party is under the age of 17.

Wacht was taken to the Public Safety Building for processing following his arrest.

He was arraigned in Cortland City Court on April 2 at 10:00 a.m. and released on his own recognizance.

Wacht is scheduled to appear in Town of Harford Court on May 6 at 5:00 p.m. and in City of Cortland Court on May 1 at 9:00 a.m.
