SPRINGFIELD, MA — Members of the Springfield Police Department seized four illegal vehicles and issued four criminal complaints during an off-highway vehicle enforcement detail Saturday.

Officers also issued five traffic citations during the operation.

Police conduct the details to deter illegal riding of dirt bikes and other off-highway vehicles, which are prohibited on city streets.

In the afternoon, officers issued a citation to a rider of a street legal dirt bike for failure to stop/yield near the intersection of Carew Street and Penacook Street.

Officers located a dirt bike that was stopped on the 600 block of Carew Street.

The rider was issued a citation and will receive a criminal complaint, and the bike was towed.

Officers then stopped three riders on the 100 block of Moreland Street.

Officers issued three criminal complaints and three citations and towed all three off-highway vehicles.
