SIDNEY, NY — A Sidney man faces a felony charge after sheriff’s deputies stopped him for a traffic violation Thursday afternoon.

JeanMichel Letennier, 66, of Sidney, was arrested and charged with aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle in the first degree, a class E felony, according to Delaware County Sheriff Craig S. DuMond.

Deputies observed Letennier’s vehicle pull out from Division Street onto Main Street and cut off another vehicle around 3 p.m. Thursday, according to the sheriff’s office.

A check of Letennier’s driver’s license revealed his driving privileges were suspended, with a total of 28 suspensions on seven dates in New York State, according to the release.

Deputies also issued traffic summonses for display of forged inspection sticker and knowingly operating a vehicle while suspended, both unclassified misdemeanors.

Additional violations included failure to yield right-of-way at a stop sign, inadequate or no muffler, unlicensed operator, improper plates, unregistered motor vehicle, operating without insurance and uninspected motor vehicle.

Letennier was transported to the Delaware County Correctional Facility to await centralized arraignment court.
