NEW HARTFORD, NY — A Poland woman faces driving while intoxicated and weapons charges following a traffic stop on State Route 840.

Hannah Coffin, 26, of Poland, was arrested April 3, 2026, at about 10:57 p.m. after a sheriff’s deputy observed several vehicle and traffic violations on a 2015 Dodge Ram traveling southeasterly, according to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol.

During the traffic stop, the deputy observed signs of impairment, Maciol said.

Field sobriety tests led to Coffin’s arrest, and upon further investigation, an illegal AR-15 style unserialized “ghost gun” rifle was located inside the truck and subsequently seized, according to Maciol.

Coffin was transported to the Sheriff’s Office where she was charged with DWI and other traffic infractions.

She was also charged with criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree, a Class A misdemeanor, because the frame/receiver on the rifle did not have a serial number, Maciol said.

A sheriff’s investigator further charged Coffin with criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree (possession of an assault weapon), a Class D felony, because the rifle had a detachable magazine and several other assault rifle components, according to Maciol.

After processing, Coffin was held for arraignment at CAP Court where bail was set at $5,000 cash, $10,000 bond.

Coffin is scheduled to appear in New Hartford Town Court at a later date.
