Man arrested after crash at Fair Haven Inn

FAIR HAVEN, VT — A Benson man was arrested after allegedly crashing into a building and fleeing the scene.

Jeremy S. Mahoney, 45, was arrested March 21 on a charge of leaving the scene of a motor vehicle crash.

Police were called to the Fair Haven Inn on Adams Street at 5 p.m. March 19 for a reported crash.

Employees told police a man operating a dark-colored pickup truck had struck the building and fled the scene.

Through investigation, police learned Mahoney allegedly had been operating the truck and struck the building, causing damage before fleeing.

On March 21, the Rutland County Sheriff’s Department located Mahoney in Wells while investigating another incident.

Mahoney was arrested and released on a citation to appear in Rutland District Court at a future date.
