FISHKILL, NY — New York State Police arrested a man on drunken driving charges after a traffic stop on State Route 9 on April 1, 2026.
Troopers from the Wappinger barracks stopped a Subaru at approximately 11:02 a.m. for a vehicle and traffic law violation.
The driver, Skirianos M. Skirianos, 40, of Mahopac, New York, showed signs of intoxication, according to police.
Skirianos failed standardized field sobriety tests, police said.
An 8-year-old child was in the vehicle at the time of the stop.
Skirianos was taken to the Wappinger barracks for processing, where he refused to submit to a chemical breath test.
The child was released to a sober third party.
Skirianos was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated with a child passenger, a class E felony, and driving while intoxicated, an unclassified misdemeanor.
He was issued an appearance ticket returnable to Fishkill Town Court.
