PORT JERVIS, NY — Port Jervis firefighters responded to two structure fires in neighboring states within hours early Thursday morning.
The department was first called at 11:41 p.m. Wednesday to assist in Westfall, Pennsylvania, for a reported structure fire with possible entrapment.
Car 4, Engine 2 and Truck 7 responded within four minutes with a crew of 12 firefighters.
Engine 2 arrived as the first company on scene and deployed a hose line.
The fire was contained to a small area in a garage, and no one was trapped inside.
The ladder truck was returned to service, and the engine was released shortly after.
At 12:45 a.m., Engine 2 was called to Montague, New Jersey, for a working barn fire.
Car 4 and Engine 2 responded within three minutes with a crew of 10 firefighters.
The crew assisted Montague and Branchville firefighters with opening up the structure and ventilation.
Firefighters limited the damage to one room of the barn.
