NEW LONDON, CT — Two men face multiple firearm charges following a foot pursuit Tuesday afternoon.
Officers responded to the area of Laurel Drive and Colman Street at approximately 4:54 p.m. April 1, 2026, for a report of suspicious individuals.
As officers approached a small group of males, the individuals fled on foot, according to police.
Officers detained some of the individuals after a brief pursuit.
A subsequent investigation revealed that two of the detained individuals were in possession of firearms.
Jamir Mueller, 20, of New London, was arrested and charged with carrying a pistol without a permit, illegal possession of a large capacity magazine and interference with an officer.
Joel Woodhall, 20, of Groton, was arrested and charged with carrying a pistol without a permit, illegal possession of a large capacity magazine, criminal possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, illegal discharge/operation of a firearm and criminal possession of ammunition.
A male juvenile was also taken into custody and charged with interference with an officer.
The investigation remains active and ongoing.
