ROME, NY — Police are investigating a homicide after a man was found dead in a wooded area Wednesday morning.
Officers responded to the 200 block of East Dominick Street at approximately 8:25 a.m. April 1, 2026, for a report of an unresponsive person.
Upon arrival, officers located an unresponsive male in a small wooded area near Railroad Street.
The man had sustained a puncture wound to the chest and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The deceased has been identified as Michael J. Brown, 31, of Rome.
The Rome Police Detective Division is investigating the incident as a homicide.
