Man arrested on protection order violation in Norwood

NORWOOD, NY — Police arrested a Raymondville man today after he allegedly approached a residence where he was prohibited from going under a stay-away order of protection.

Byron L. Cook, 41, was located a short distance from the residence by village police and taken into custody.

He was charged with criminal contempt in the second degree, a class A misdemeanor.

Further investigation revealed that Cook allegedly chased two children and physically accosted one of them after leaving the vicinity of the protected person’s home.

He was additionally charged with two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, also misdemeanors.

Cook was released on appearance tickets to answer the charges in Potsdam Town Court next month.
