Man arrested on petit larceny charge in Sennett

SENNETT, NY — A 70-year-old man was arrested after allegedly stealing a grill from a senior apartment complex and taking it to a scrap yard, according to the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office.

Thomas J. Gleason, of Sennett, was arrested at approximately 10:31 p.m. on March 30, 2026, and charged with one count of petit larceny.

Deputies responded to 3365 E. Genesee St. Rd., Sennett Meadows Senior Apartments, at approximately 8:32 p.m. on March 30, 2026, for a reported larceny.

It was reported that a tenant had stolen a grill and brought it to a scrap yard for money.

During the investigation, deputies determined that Gleason was the individual who stole the grill.

Gleason was issued an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in Sennett Town Court on April 8, 2026, at 5 p.m. for arraignment.
