NEW BEDFORD, MA — A man was arrested on firearm charges following an incident at a lounge Monday night.
On March 30, just before 11 p.m., officers responded to Vibes Lounge on Acushnet Avenue for a report of a fight possibly involving a firearm.
Upon arrival, officers spoke with a male identified as Brent Lagoa, 31, of New Bedford, who stated there had been an argument between friends, but that those involved had already left.
He also told officers there was no firearm involved.
While checking the establishment, officers entered the men’s bathroom and observed a black jacket on the floor.
Officers discovered a Titan Tiger .38 Special revolver inside.
Security camera footage revealed Lagoa entering the bar with the firearm in his right hand and placing it on a shelf behind the bar.
A short time later, he was seen retrieving the firearm, attempting to place it in his jacket, and then walking alone into the bathroom before exiting without the jacket.
Lagoa does not possess a Massachusetts License to Carry.
He was placed under arrest and charged with carrying a loaded firearm without a license and possession of ammunition without an FID card.
