ROME, NY — A Rome man has been arrested following an investigation into the physical abuse of a young male child.
William Coonrod Jr. was taken into custody April 2 in Rome by Oneida County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Melissa Bolton and Investigator L. Dillenbeck, assisted by the Road Patrol Division.
Investigators determined that in April, Coonrod Jr. tied the legs of a juvenile male with rope, restricting his movement and causing significant bruising around the juvenile’s legs, according to Chief Deputy Derrick O’Meara, director of the Oneida County Child Advocacy Center.
The investigation was conducted by Bolton, who is assigned to the Child Advocacy Center.
Coonrod Jr. was charged with one count each of third-degree assault, second-degree unlawful imprisonment and endangering the welfare of a child, all Class A misdemeanors.
He was transported to the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office Kurt B. Wyman Law Enforcement Building, where he was processed and then turned over to the correctional facility pending arraignment in CAP Court.
An order of protection has been requested on behalf of the child.
