MIDDLETOWN, PA — A Harrisburg man faces felony charges after allegedly fleeing from police and crashing into multiple vehicles on March 30, 2026.
Leonard Frank Evans III, 35, of Harrisburg, was arrested following a pursuit that began in Lower Swatara Township and ended in the 100 block of East Main Street.
A Lower Swatara Township police officer was conducting a traffic detail in the 2200 block of West Harrisburg Pike at approximately 4:59 p.m. when a silver 2002 Chevrolet Impala passed displaying what police described as a “dead tag.”
The officer attempted to initiate a traffic stop, but the vehicle fled at a high rate of speed into Middletown Borough, according to police.
The pursuit ended after the fleeing driver crashed into multiple cars in the 100 block of East Main Street.
Evans then fled on foot and was apprehended after an officer deployed a taser, police said.
Police said Evans was found to have a suspended driver’s license due to a previous DUI and admitted to smoking marijuana prior to the incident.
Evans was transported to Hershey Medical Center for medical evaluation and clearance before being taken to Dauphin County Central Booking Center for processing and arraignment.
He was charged with felony fleeing and eluding police along with 14 additional charges.
Additional charges are pending after a search warrant is conducted on the vehicle and toxicology results are received, police said.
