WATERBURY, CT — Officers from multiple units of the Waterbury Police Department executed search warrants on March 26, 2026.
The warrants were issued for Jean Carlos Andujar-Santiago, 18, of Waterbury, and for a residence at 1000 West Main Street.
Prior to the execution of the search warrants, Andujar-Santiago and Erik Mendez-Santiago both had active arrest warrants out of Waterbury.
Officers from the Emergency Response Team, Vice and Intelligence Unit, Crime Prevention Unit, Gang Task Force, Auto Theft Task Force, and K9 Unit participated in the operation.
Police seized ammunition, a Taurus Armas G2c 9mm firearm, and a high-capacity 15-round magazine during the investigation.
Andujar-Santiago was charged with theft of a firearm, unlawful storage of a firearm, criminal possession of a firearm/ammunition, criminal possession of a pistol/revolver, and possession of a high-capacity magazine.
Andujar-Santiago has two prior serious juvenile offenses and is prohibited from possessing firearms as a result of those convictions.
Mendez-Santiago was taken into custody on his active arrest warrant without incident.
