PALMYRA, NY — The Palmyra Police Department arrested a Brockport man following an investigation into a threat made against the Palmyra-Macedon School District.
On March 31, police were alerted to a social media post circulating online that depicted a firearm pointed toward the front of the school accompanied by a threatening message.
Officers, together with administrators from Palmyra-Macedon High School, immediately activated the district’s emergency safety plan.
The suspect, identified as a former student of the district, was quickly identified.
The investigation led to the arrest of Douglas R. Adams, 18, of Brockport, who had been present on campus at the time the post was made.
Adams was later taken into custody in Monroe County by Palmyra police officers after an arrest warrant was issued.
Adams was processed at the Palmyra Police Department and transported to the Wayne County Jail to be held for CAPS arraignment on April 1 at 6 p.m.
He will return to Palmyra Village court at a later date to answer the charges.
Adams is charged with making a terroristic threat, a class D felony, and aggravated threat of mass harm, a class A misdemeanor.
At the time of the incident, only a minimal number of students were on campus, and no individuals were in direct danger.
The firearm depicted in the post was later recovered and determined to be non-operational.
