Man arrested after barricade situation in Spring Valley

SPRING VALLEY, NY — A burglary in progress led to a barricade situation that required a specialized tactical team to resolve.

The Spring Valley Police Department responded to 94 N Main St at approximately 6 p.m. on March 31, 2026, for a report of a burglary in progress.

Responding officers encountered a male inside an apartment who barricaded himself inside when confronted by police.

The Rockland County REACT (Rescue, Entry, and Counter Terrorism) team was activated and successfully took the male into custody.

Shawn Alexander Laury, 31, of Spring Valley, was arrested and charged with second-degree burglary, a C felony, second-degree criminal mischief, a D felony, and third-degree criminal mischief, an E felony.

Laury was held pending arraignment in the Spring Valley Justice Court.
