NEW LEBANON, NY — A Massachusetts man was arrested on drunken driving charges after a traffic stop early Friday morning.
New York State Police at Chatham conducted a traffic stop on a Volkswagen traveling eastbound on Route 20 in the Town of New Lebanon at approximately 3:21 a.m. on March 28, 2026, for violations of the New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law.
During the stop, the operator, identified as Enmanuel J. Angulo Marquez, 21, of Pittsfield, Massachusetts, displayed signs of intoxication.
Standardized Field Sobriety Tests were administered, which Angulo Marquez subsequently failed.
Further investigation revealed that a 4-year-old child was in the vehicle at the time of the stop.
Angulo Marquez was taken into custody and transported to SP Chatham for processing, where he submitted a chemical breath test that yielded a blood alcohol concentration of 0.14%.
The child was safely released to a sober third party.
Angulo Marquez was charged with Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated with a Child Passenger (Leandra’s Law), a class E felony; Driving While Intoxicated, an unclassified misdemeanor; and Vehicle and Traffic Law violations.
Angulo Marquez was issued an appearance ticket returnable to the Town of New Lebanon Court on April 2, 2026, at 5:00 p.m.
