PORTLAND, ME — A New York man faces multiple drug trafficking charges following a raid at an Airbnb that yielded more than a pound of cocaine and $38,000 in cash.
Raymond H. Teran, 51, of Bronx, New York, was arrested Friday and charged with aggravated trafficking in scheduled “W” drugs (cocaine), trafficking in scheduled “W” drugs (cocaine base), illegal importation of scheduled drugs (cocaine), and falsifying physical evidence.
Agents from the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency’s Cumberland District Task Force and officers from the South Portland Police Department initiated an investigation Friday into interstate cocaine trafficking.
Information developed during the investigation led agents to conduct surveillance at an Airbnb on Emery Street in Portland, where Teran was observed coming and going.
MDEA agents, Portland police and agents from the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration served a search warrant at the Emery Street location.
Agents seized over 500 grams of cocaine, 13 grams of cocaine base, over $38,000 in suspected drug proceeds and additional evidence of illegal drug importation and sales.
The estimated street value of the seized drugs is $22,000.
Teran was arrested during the service of the warrant and transported to the Cumberland County Jail, where he was held on $50,000 cash bail.
He is expected to make an initial appearance in court Monday.
