WALWORTH, NY — A 23-year-old man has been arrested following an investigation into the possession and promotion of child sexual abuse material.
Jayden A. Westcott, of Walworth, was taken into custody March 28 at State Police Williamson after voluntarily surrendering.
The investigation began with a CyberTipline report submitted to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children in February.
The report indicated an online account associated with Westcott uploaded multiple files suspected to contain child sexual exploitation material.
The New York State Police Troop E Computer Crimes Unit and the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force identified Westcott as the account holder.
A search warrant was executed at a residence in Walworth in June, where multiple electronic devices were seized for forensic examination.
Analysis of the devices revealed numerous files depicting child sexual abuse material, along with evidence indicating the possession and dissemination of such content, according to the New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation.
Westcott has been charged with three counts of promoting a sexual performance by a child less than 17 years of age, a class D felony, and five counts of possessing a sexual performance by a child less than 16 years of age, a class E felony.
He was transported to the Wayne County Jail for centralized arraignment.
