Fire extinguished at apartment building in Clyde

CLYDE, NY — Firefighters responded to a blaze at a multi-family apartment building on Glasgow Street on Tuesday morning.

The Clyde-Galen Fire District was dispatched at 10:24 a.m. to 161 Glasgow Street along with the Savannah and Rose fire departments.

Responding units were told someone might be trapped inside the building.

First-arriving officers reported heavy fire conditions at the rear of the building.

A rapid intervention team from the Lyons Fire District was requested as firefighters worked to extinguish the flames and search the apartments.

The fire was quickly extinguished and all occupants were found safely outside.

The fire was contained to a second-level porch and one apartment.

The remaining apartments sustained smoke and water damage.

Wayne County EMS, Wayne County Sheriff’s Office, New York State Police, Wayne County Fire Coordinators Office and the Red Cross assisted at the scene.

The cause of the fire was determined to be accidental.
