Woman charged after disturbance at mall in White Oak

WHITE OAK, PA — A woman faces multiple charges after police say she caused a disturbance while naked inside a shopping center store Thursday.

White Oak Police were dispatched to Oak Park Mall Shopping Center at 2001 Lincoln Way at 3:08 p.m. March 26 for a report of a disturbance inside one of the stores.

Upon arrival, several patrons and employees directed officers to the middle of the store near the registers.

Officers observed a naked female bleeding from her facial area causing a disturbance.

The female, later identified as Tammy Canut, 53, of North Huntington, was immediately taken into custody by officers and placed in a patrol car.

Medics responded to the scene to treat two injured adults inside the store.

Medics also responded to White Oak Police Department to treat Canut for minor injuries.

Several witnesses were interviewed and all available CCTV footage was reviewed by White Oak Police officers.

After consultation with the Allegheny County District Attorney’s Office, Canut was charged with two counts of simple assault, indecent assault, indecent exposure, criminal mischief, disorderly conduct, open lewdness and harassment.

Canut was transported to the Allegheny County Jail and is awaiting arraignment.
